Junior’s Rise from the Ashes

Week 3 kicked off in the BFA Summer League with nothing less than a point required by the juniors to keep promotion hopes alive. Juniors had a full squad which gave manager Naz Hussain a difficult decision to make after the return of Veteran Abul Kashim and in form striker Daishaun from injury and illness respectively.

Juniors were off to a poor start yet again and it wasn’t long before a howler by Abdul Muhith let in the first goal and it was West End who drew first blood. Shortly after West End managed to find a way through and doubled their lead with a second goal from a set piece. Bromley were at sixes and sevens from then on and it wasn’t long before the visiting team added a third which had the Juniors dead and buried.

The second half saw Kashim and Joel brought into the midfield which gave the Juniors an added bite and finesse. It wasn’t long after a quick interchange of passes by Daishaun and Pedro saw the Striker slip through the defence and slot in an early second half goal.

This really put the pressure on West End and with 10 minutes to go Subhan dinked the ball past the West End Defence which was calmly collected by Kashim who dropped the shoulder on the defender in pure Dennis Bergkamp fashion gave the keeper the eyes and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

A comeback was on the cards for the second week running and with the final seconds of the clock counting down Daishaun managed to pull off one of the goals of the season with a great Acrobatic scissor kick which ripped though the West End net and left the West End defenders in absolute shock.

Yet again Juniors came from behind and showed great character and fight to comeback from behind with arguably one of the favourites in Division 1. Final score Bromley Juniors 3 – West End 3

Players overheard the Manager, Naz Hussain  “…. I don’t how they pulled that one off, its beyond me if you’re asking…some players must just have it in their locker”
