Match Reports - UK Bangladeshi Champions 2007

Bromley take on the UK Championship by Storm..

As the 2007 UK Bangladeshi Championship went underway @ Milton Keynes, teams from all over the United Kingdom crossed many county borders to join the prestigious Bangladeshi Championship. Birmingham, Luton and Milton Keynes were a few to name as Bromley FC represented London alondside Mohammeden who were defending the championship title. Bromley by Bow FC were invited to the prestigious annual championships with Mohammaden SC to represent London in Milton Keyes on Sunday 26th August.

The event was exhausting for a few players as it was a one day tournament. The final saw both teams from London head to head which added an extra spice as it became a derby match. The final was tense and saw few chances for either sides as both teams were disciplined in all departments of the game, half way through the first half Bromley were awarded a free kick near the corner and Abdul stepped up to take it while a few of the Bromley players went up to try to get a header in but didn’t get a chance as Abdul’s free kick arrowed in the top right hand corner of the goal.

Second half was nerve-racking for Bromley as Mohammaden raised the tempo of the game as they were pushing for the equaliser, they had two great attempts on getting it as the first shot on goal was saved by Amin Ali (GK) near the post and the second was a minute away from the final whistle which saw Mohammaden striker one on one against the keeper which saw the keeper prove himself again with an outstanding save, it also landed him with the man of the match award. Bromley win the tournament unbeaten having won 4 games & drew 2. 2007 has been the most successful year for Bromley by Bow FC as they became the Inner London Football League champions and the cup winners by beating Stepney in the final, the club continued their success by reaching the final of the SNT cup and finishing runners up in the BFA Summer League.
