Week 1:
Bromley by Bow vs Beaumont Athletic - 05 October 2008
1-1
"Point taken.."
The ILFL Winter League kicked off this Sunday and saw Bromley FC paired up with a Beaumont side full of hunger and vengance. After taking a hammering from Bromley in the memorable Channel S Final Beaumont came well equipped on a rainy sunday afternoon against an unorganised Bromley side lacking players and enthusiasm. With Manager Shofiqul having to step in due to lack of men, Bromley opened the scoreline through there Manager Shofiqul playing a fantastic ball through to Bahar Ali which he chipped over the Beaumont keeper into the back of the net. The partnership of the unusual strike force looked promising as Bromley were creating further chances which were seen hit the side of the net and the keepers arms. With no end product, Beaumont began to apply the pressure and as the game was coming to an end Beaumont grabbed an equaliser with the keeper Amin failing to hold on to the ball from a shot which allowed the Number 9 to slot home to grab a well deserved point.
The Manager commented after the game, "the players need to question themselves if they are playing in this league to win or to have a kickabout on a sunday afternoon. its time to get serious"
Bromley by Bow B vs Elite Youth
1-0
"Job done against a very good team !!"
That was the answer from the Manager as Bromley B started the league with a win and a very important 3 points. Bromley started the game in confident mood in which they took the lead in the first half in very harsh conditions.
With the rain and wind hitting hard in the Marsh lands of Hackney, Michael Capillo (Man of the Match) got onto a good cross in the box and smashed it into the bottom corner. It was a very hard game where players still unfit were giving all that they can for the team.
Manager said after the game, "it was a very good team performance and he would like to thank Shipon who played in goal for the first half. Let’s take this grit and determination into our next game."
Bromley by Bow vs BYM Sports Academy- 12 October
2-2
"Another 1"
Week 2 in the ILFL Winter League produced another disappointing performance from Bromley FC as they let a two nil lead slip away to let oppostition BYM clinch a last minute equaliser. With few changes from last weeks squad Bromley were eager to compensate for missing out on a perfect start to the season, and they did by opening the scoreline in the first two minutes through Bahar who comfortably struck the ball in the back of the net from an intelligent ball through from Oli. It didint take long for Bromley to get their second as a miscommunication between defender and goalkeeper handed Bromley an own goal.
As the second half approached BYM were eager to get back in the game and luck was on their side when a mis kick from keeper Amin fell to the strikers feet which he knocked into the goal with confidence. Bromley kept pushing but with no end product a last minute corner allowed the BYM centre back to push forward and head in the equaliser seconds from time.
Manager Shofiqul commented "We need to take our chances and should have finished the game early on, we didnt and we got punished"
Newark vs Bromley by Bow B
Newark take points...
A game that was lead by the stand in Manager Samsul, as Nagim was away on training duties. A lack of organisation and communication at the back lead to conceding early in the game, this was to be capitilised by the opposition as they took a 3 goal lead by half time. An early goal in the second half from Bromley B raised confidence but missed chances as Newark scored on a counter. A late goal for Bromley before the final whistle ended the game. Final score 4-2 to Newark FC.
Week 3:
Mohammadan SC VS Bromley by Bow - 19 October
5-2
"Hammered"
It went from bad to worse for Bromley F.C in week three of the ILFL Winter league as they were shrugged off by a well organised Mohammeden side. After two weeks playing up front Manager Shofiqul saw this game from the sideline as Bromley managed to get 11 footballers on the pitch. As the game kicked off it didnt take long for Mohammeden to take the lead as the striker beat the offside line to tap in a goal through keeper Amin. Things got worse for Amin as the Mohammeden winger volleyed a crossing ball from the sideline lobbing him leaving him and the Bromley defence stunned. The half time managerial talk had Bromley firing again through Bahar as he chipped a through ball over the keeper into the back of the net. However heads went down as defender Hanif gave away a penalty straight away giving the opposition a comfortable lead. It only took two minutes for Bromley to give away another penalty making the comeback very difficult, and ten minutes from time Mohammeden striker slotted home the fifth goal leaving Bromley with a mountain to climb. Bromley were given a late consolitaion penalty seconds before the final whistle.
Manager Shofiqul commented after the game. "We were outplayed and outclassed. the lack of fitness showed today. im very diappointed, we needed to play compact and we didn't, so we paid the price"
Shoreditch vs Bromley by Bow B
Bromley B Ditch Shoreditch FC...
2-1 was the final score at Bartlett Park, a good team performance saw Bromley B take all 3 points. In the first 10 minutes Bromley were forced to make a substitution at the back after an injury to their centre back Meaty Mamun Chowdrary. Bromley quickly reorganized and started to dictate the game. Prince (The man of fire) got onto a long ball and muscled himself through their defence and calmly passed it into the bottom corner.
Mukthar, starting his first game after a speculative u-turn to Bromley made it 2-0 with 15 minutes to go. Shoreditch came back strong and scored to make it 2-1 with 10 minutes to go. This saw Bromley pegging back and they started to defend well.
Overall the Manager and his side-kick (Samsul) was happy with the performance and said "We have shown the grit, determination and belief that there is in this squad this season, but we have to start dictating games from the start, however we are full of confidence after what we have achieved, and we believe that there is a lot more to come from this side than we have seen so far. We are ready to take it on to another level and the confidence we now have will help us."
Week 4:
Westferry vs Bromley by Bow - 26 October
2-7
"Back to Basics as Bromley sink West-ferry"
After a disappointing start to the season Manager Shofiqul began the game with an inspiring team talk which included admiitting to the lack of organisation and commitment in the start of the league. Also quoting him "Our league starts today boys".
So a fired up Bromley FC stepped onto the pitch opening the scoreline within minutes through Bahar. He slotted another one few minutes later from a through ball from Oli. Also minutes from half time Muquith slotted in his first goal of the season, as the second half got underway Westferry pulled one back after a miscommunication between defender and goal keeper allowed the Westferry striker to head in the ball.
Under pressure Bromley kept their cool as Abdul played a magnificent long ball through for Bahar to claim his hatrick. Some good football was being played by Bromley which led to the 5th goal which was netted by muqith claiming his second, and even right back Dipon got his name on the score sheet as he stepped up for a penalty and calmly placed it into the bottom right hand corner. With confidence flying Marlon also banged in a scorcher from thrity yards leaving Westferry grounded and the Himalayas to climb, but they got themselves a late consolation minutes from time. An improved performance from Bromley. but will it last?
Manager commented. " We played well, and I'm very pleased with the performance. I just hope they would play with this much pride & confidence every week"
FC Berner vs Bromley by Bow B
FC Burner get burnt !
A game that saw Bromley’s true character and team spirit. Bromley started the game with 10man again due to late arrival; Mukhter got his second goal of the season with a good finish in the first 15 minutes. That saw Bromley lose concentration and paid a heavy price by going down 3-1 at half time.
Bromley reorganized at half time and went out there to look for that one goal which would bring them back into the game. Chance after chance went missing for Bromley with plenty of golden opportunities. Eventually Bromley got the goal they deserved through Mukhter. That saw Bromley go gun hoe looking for the equaliser. In the end FC Berner could not handle the onslaught of a hungry Bromley team and paid the price with goals from Ifti and Isacc to wrap up this fine game. Final score Bromley 4 – FC Berner 3.
Manager said after the game, "this is a team with real confidence at this moment and playing well with belief. But we still need to take our chances in front of goal. Overall me and Samsul are really happy with our team efforts."
Cup Games - 02 November 2008:
Bromley by Bow FC vs BYM
1-1
(Bromley win 5-2 on penalties)
After an unsteady start to the season Bromley were paired up with BYM in the ILFL cup draw. Having drawn with them already in the second week missing three points bromley were eager to make sure they didnt leave empty handed. Bromley were confident coming into this game and were knocking the ball around creating chances. However a poweful shot from BYM midfielder had goalkeeper Amin drop the ball right infront of the 6 yard for striker to tap in home. One nil down bromley applied some pressure but were constanly second to every ball and getting outmuscled. luckily defenders Hanif and Helal were having an excellent game keeping the bym strikers quiet. No goals and few chances from bromley demanded a controversial penalty seconds from time, allowing mini (Emran) to step up and equalise nervously.
Penalties saw Bromley scoring the first two with BYM missing theirs settling the nerves in the bromley camp. with scores 2 to nothiing dipon stepped up and layed the ball to the goal keepers arms, luckily the ref spotted the keeper move off his line too early allowing dipon a second chance to smash into the back of the net. scores were 3-1 and bromley needed one goal to secure the win, and all eyes were on Oli as he jogged calmly to the spot. placed the ball dowm, winked at the bromley fans and placed the ball in the top corner. cool finish.
Manager Shofiqul commented after the game " we had some luck today, which we needed, overall im pleased with the boys, we need to get back to our winning ways quickly"
Bromley B FC vs ACE FC
Bromley B Serve's up ACE in the Cup….
Ace FC got off to a flyer with 2 quick goals in the first 7 minutes while Bromley got caught napping at the back, and once again Bromley had to play catch up in a game which was full of chances at both ends. Within no time Bromley started to dictate the game with the team pushing forward for a goal that would bring them back in the game. With Bromley sensing that a goal was on the card the team packed into the opposition’s box as ACE had a corner to defend. In came a quality cross from the skipper at the far post and Prince had an easy finish with his head to make it 2-1.
With Bromley getting the goal they had their tails up looking for the equaliser with chances going one by one. Again from another set piece Michael found himself little room at the far post and spectacularly hammered home a low volley to make it 2-2 at half time.
The second half saw both teams pushing forward for the winner. With Bromley missing golden opportunities to finish the game off. But ACE was not giving up with them playing with 3 strikers up front when they had a great chance but Engle (Man of the Match) made a wonderful save to deny ACE the winner. Full time 2-2
That saw the game go to penalties which saw Bromley come through to win 3-1.
Bromley’s Manager said after the game:” This team is all about character, belief, desire, and passion, as you can see this team knows how to come back from goals down. I am really proud of the team today. 2-0 down and the way they pulled their socks up it shows a lot of determination in this team and may it long continue!! Well done boys!!”
Week 5:
Bromley v E7
1-4
A disappointing performance from Bromley saw them lose out on three points on a wet and windy afternoon at meath gardens. Bromley started the game well passing the ball around and having most of the posession however another miscommunication between the defenders say the later hatrick scoring srtiker beat the offside trap and scored past keeper amin. E7 kept the goals coming and apart from a consolation goal from Marlon. Bromley were not clinical enough infront of goal.
Manager commented after the game " we didnt take our chances and we got punished. we were weak in every area today. im very disappointed"
Bromley by Bow B vs SYA
2-4
Manager said after the game: "If there was ever a game we should of won, Then that was it!! it is a shame as it was a very important game. Dodgy ref's will always give dodgy decisions."
Week 6:
Stepney vs Bromley by Bow -16 November
3-1
This week Bromley were fired up from the break of dawn to battle it out with the League and Cup Holders Stepney FC. The game was very entertaining from the start as Bromley conceded a penalty within minutes but not to worry as keeper Amin made an excellent save to keep the game level. However it didnt take long for Stepney to show their quality as minutes later they took the lead.
Bromley came back with a quick response through Abdul Hamidi as he beat the offside line to chip the ball over the keeper to claim his first goal for for the A team since his controversial transfer from the B team in the summer saga. The second half started well with both teams creating lots of chances but a free kick given at the edge of the box allowed Stepney midfielder to rise and head home to take the lead. it didnt take long for it to go downhill as keeper Amin once again failed to hold on to a striking ball allowing the Stepney striker to tap home a beauty. With a 3-1 losing scoreline, Manager Shofiqul shuffled some players around but it was too late to salvage anything as another loss for the Bromley team was on the books. Can it get any worse?
Manager commented after the game. we played well but didnt have the strength to last the whole game. thats the difference between champions and everyone else. as it stands we are everyone else"
Abohani vs Bromley by Bow B
Bromley B back to winning ways !!
Bromley pick up all 3 points, Goals from Mukhtar, Prince, and Super Sub Kashim.
Bromley started the game in fine fashion with quality passing and movement.
Bromley picked up 2 quick firing goals from Mukhtar and Prince. That saw Bromley taking it too easy and started to be complacent and trying to play to many killer passes. Abohani started pick Bromley’s pocket and making it difficult for them.
Second half saw the same sort of play from Bromley which was very frustrating as Bromley missed glorious chances time after time. That saw Abohani pushing for a goal that would bring them back into the game. Eventually that is what happened, Mitty’s poor back pass was picked up by Abohani’s striker and put it passed Engle in goal. That made it 2-1 with 15 minutes to play for. With Abohani pushing forward on came Kashim to replace Prince, With his first touch he score the important goal that made sure Bromley took all 3 point.
Manager said after the game: "If we play like this we will never get promoted, We need to take our chances and learn how to finish a game off!! Over all I am happy as it is 3 points and that is what we look for after a game, so yes I am happy on that note, but we have a lot to learn from this game."
Week 7:
Clichy vs Bromley by Bow - 23 November
1-3
With Bromley failing to pick up any points in their previous two games alot of pressure was on the manager to produce a result against a struggling clichy side. with clichy sitting below bromley on the table this game was crucial for both sides to get back to their winning ways. bromley started the game very well with Bahar opening the scoreline within minutes. An excellent cross from Dipon moments later gave on form Abdul Hamid the chance to tap home, easing the pressure off the team and chants leads by Mamun Chowdary lifted the spirits. However it didnt take long for another keeper defender miscommunication to allow Clichy to pull one back before half time. the second half bromley created lots of chances and with clichy posing no threat to the Bromley defence. Ten minutes before the final whistle Abdul Hamid claimed his second of the game to wrap things up. The performance was better but not good enough.
Manager commented after the game " we played well, but we should have scored more goals. it was a decent performance against a half decent side. im happy witht he result but we need to improve"

Week 8:
Bromley by Bow vs SCTA - 30 November
3-3
Week 8 kicked off with a bang as Bahar and Abdul hamid were back to their scoring ways. The early lead led to abit of complacency as SCTA pulled one back before half time. The second half started well with some excellent football from Bromley but SCTA winger clinched an equaliser on the counter after Bahar Ali held on to the ball too long and gave it away. He later made up for it when he headed home an excellent cross from veteran Abdul. However it didnt last long as the tired legs of the Bromley back line allowed SCTA winger (danger man) to take on three players and equalie for the second time. SCTA gained their first point of the league and bromley.....well ...no point really....
Manager commented after the game "it was a disgraceful display of football. i understand this is sunday league and the pitch conditions are poor, but im am utterly disgusted with the way we gave this game away"
